Made with curiosity,
care, and colour.
Colours in Chaos is my living collection of India: small, colour-led stories, and three years of road journeys to the festivals, kitchens and workshops behind them.
Who is behind it
I'm Simran. I live between Sydney and Chandigarh, and after three decades in technology I'm spending the next three years driving my own country with a camera. Some journeys I'll make alone; on others a friend or two will share the driving and the dawn calls.
The car and the camera
A Mahindra Thar Roxx, the petrol manual with rear-wheel drive, handles every highway and most mountain roads on these routes. Where it shouldn't go, like Zanskar's passes or the track to Longwa, it parks and a local jeep takes over.
The camera is a Fujifilm GFX100 II. Medium format rewards patience: portraits in doorway light, landscapes at the edges of the day, and files large enough to print at gallery size.
How people are photographed
I ask first, show people their picture, and send it to them. Every portrait carries the person's name and a line in their own words. Anyone whose photograph I use beyond these pages has agreed to it in writing. I do not photograph prayer, grief or cremation.

A note from me when there is something good to share: a fresh story, a useful route, or a voice worth hearing.
Sign-ups open in January 2027, before I leave. A quiet note from me, now and then. No noise.
